Investment / Venture Development Manager (m/f/d) – Life Science / BioTech
Full-time or part-time, based in Leipzig or remote, initially a two-year fixed-term contract, we aim to extend it

Your Responsibilities:
- Venture Builder – Developing and actively supporting our ventures in validating key product, market, and regulatory assumptions, through to designing the business model, equity structure, and the path to founding and scaling the company
- Investor & Funding Expert – Supporting the ventures in investor readiness and actively guiding fundraising rounds across all phases (from pre-seed to Series B) – from the pitch story and data room to identifying suitable investors, structuring investment models with SPRIND and co-investors, and providing support during negotiations with VCs, family offices, and strategic partners
- Deep-Tech Translator – Evaluating scientific breakthroughs in the life sciences and biotech sectors, assessing technology maturity levels, intellectual property rights, and regulatory hurdles, and translating complex science into viable product and market hypotheses for investors, industry partners, and government agencies
- Ecosystem Hub – Actively networking within the European venture capital and life sciences communities with founders, VCs, industry partners, research institutions, and policy makers; helping to shape SPRIND Challenges and validation projects; and continuously monitoring global tech and investment trends for our portfolio
Your profile:
- Deep Tech & Life Sciences Background – a completed degree (Master’s, PhD) in the life sciences, biotechnology, medicine, pharmacy, bioinformatics, or a related field of natural sciences; a solid understanding of technology; the ability to confidently assess technology readiness levels (TRL); and proven experience in translating science into products and business models. In particular, experience with regulatory requirements, clinical validation, long development cycles, and partnerships with pharmaceutical companies is of special importance.
- Venture experience – several years of experience in one of the following areas: venture building or startup accelerator, VC fund with a deep-tech/life sciences focus, or technology transfer/innovation promotion/incubator with an understanding of investment models
- Fundraising proficiency – experience in managing fundraising processes (from pitch to data room) and negotiating investment agreements, expertise in financing instruments and valuation methods, as well as knowledge of the German and European venture landscape
- Personal Competence & Execution Strength – a strong sense of ownership and a hands-on mentality; the ability to make decisions amid uncertainty and risk; strong resilience and frustration tolerance; the courage to clearly address uncomfortable facts; systemic thinking with regard to the overall portfolio; and the willingness to set aside one’s own ego in favor of the portfolio companies
