Challenge Days: The New Computing Concepts Challenge

Fourteen teams in Leipzig brainstorm ideas for continued work

SPRIND’s New Computing Concepts Challenge kicked off in November 2022. Since then, 14 Challenge teams have been developing new concepts for fundamentally rebuilding computing hardware. The ever-increasing computing power in large data centers and those distributed in mobile devices means more resource-efficient approaches urgently need to be found.

To help the teams get to know each other better, SPRIND hosted the first Challenge Days for New Computing Concepts in Leipzig on February 27th and 28th.

Nearly 50 guests had the opportunity to talk to one another, share their experiences, and discuss possible synergies in their approaches. In addition to each team’s project presentation, international science and industry experts provided impulses and material for lively discussions, motivating the challenge teams to ask the right questions about their projects.
